Today the Egetmann is the symbolic representation of the struggle between good and evil, between light and darkness, of spring and fertility whose origins lie in the medieval tradition of Mardi Gras. origins.

The parade and its characters perform ancient fertility rites and sacrifices to the gods in ancient times even before Christianity.
