In Val di Sole there are about 100 lakes. The greatest concentration of lakes is in the Ortles-Cevedale mountains, between Val di Rabbi and Val di Peio.
The lake is a typical mountain lake at 1300 meters of altitude, with a stunning landscape and departure point for many excursions. It’s an artificial reservoir that is located in Fazzon and is easily accessible from the town of Pellizzano (by car, about 6 km). It is very pleasant to walk along its banks, allowing you to admire the reflection of the mountains in its waters.
The environment around the lake is ideal for leisurely walks. There are more difficult routes, such as the walk up to Madonna di Campiglio through Valgelada Pass, (2515 m, Signage No. 203), and the basin of Nambino passing from Artuìch camping (4.30 - 5 hours). Taking the route n.243 you can climb up to 2,006 m to the camping Malga Baselga, in the middle of Val Baselga, the continuing up to the Passo di Mezdì (2,577 m), and then down to the Valgelada until you reach againg Artuìch camping and finally back to the mountain shelter (5 hours). With the trails n.218 and n.202 you can reach the lake Malghetto di Mezzana (2001 m), going up to the lakes of Lores (2023 m, 2 hours).
