Working with the iron
Luciano and Ivan Zanoni, are two blacksmiths with their laboratory in Caldes in Val di Sole. They are the heirs of four generations of iron artisans, now internationally known. Their works are in major public and private collections (an olive tree by Luciano Zanoni is in the private collection of Bill Gates) and are on permanent display at several international galleries such as Varnier in Paris, Salamon in Milan, and the Galleria Brulé in Strasbourg. A monumental wrought iron work by Ivan, about four meters high has been recently installed in the town of Cimego in the valley of the Churches.
Father and son represent the continuity of this very ancient art, based on forging, and drawing sparks from the iron, and works until it is shaped in different forms . The art started by Luciano was followed by his son Ivan with new sensitivity and also new concerns, which can be seen in his works. Luciano Zanoni favorite subjects are the olive trees, representing strength and hope. His son instead, prefers representing little animal that seem have just come out from an enchanted garden.
